What does rest have to do with longevity?
Dr. Rodney and Karen talk about true rest which is more than how well you sleep (although that is included). True rest is a state of being where you know that God is taking complete care of every aspect of your life so you can relax and be at peace.
What is rest?
The opposite of rest is a sense of hurry. Rest is a mindset where you are in an optimal state. Rest is so important to living a long healthy life because you need a place where you can get off the hamster wheel of work and relax.
Why is rest so important?
Stress leads to early death because it raises cortisol which leads to overworking the system. Inflammation causes a lot of diseases and is the result of stress.
How can you get better rest?
- Schedule restful days
- Reduce sense of threat
- Unplug from media
- Move consistently and with purpose
- Get 7 - 8 hours of sleep
